Samuel William Bisby Stables (b. 1848 Street)
In 1861, Samuel William (Bisby) Stables was listed as Samuel Bisby, aged 13, living with his grandparents Samuel & Hannah Bisby in Street. His supposed father, John Bisby, was also living in Street with his wife, Elizabeth, and a servant, Ellen Winks.
Ten years later, in 1871, Samuel William was still living with his grandmother in Street but his name was given as Samuel William Stables on the census return.
On September 8th, 1873, Samuel Bisby Stables, 24, married Annie Elizabeth Rotherham, 19, at Rotherham Parish Church. The marriage certificate quoting his father's name as John Bisby Stables, Carter.
The couple originally lived at 181 Melton Green, West Melton, before moving to Holm Flatt Street, Parkgate, Rotherham around 1886. They had nine children, three of whom died in infancy. Samuel William Stables was their first child. Mary Hannah Stables was their second child.
