This is a summary from the Will of William Stables of Hemsworth, who was a nephew of Henry Stables of Barnburgh. You can read the complete transcript of the Will below.
It was this Will that first provided us with clear proof that Henry of Barnburgh was related to the wealthy Stables dynasty that were significant landowners throughout the county.
It is also interesting to note from this will that he had a great dislike for John Brook, the husband of his cousin Ann, of Wakefield, insisting that the legacy he left her "...shall not be subject to his debts, control or intermedling".
His Will also mentions Hague Hall, which was the seat of the Allott Family, Lords of the Manor of South Kirby, and Robert Allott is shown as a witness.
