George Stables of Darfield (b. 1844)
George Stables was the son of Matthew Stables and was born in Darfield on February 24th, 1844. He was a clay pipe maker but later became a stoker at a colliery.
On Christmas Eve 1867 he married Letitia Rossington, one of the daughters of William Rossington of Carlton in Lincolnshire. Their marriage occurring ten years after Letitia's older sister, Betsy, married George's brother, John.
