Herbert Stables of Wombwell (b.1872)

Herbert was the son of George Stables (b.1844 Darfield) and his wife Letitia Rossington.

This photograph was taken at North Beach, Blackpool, circa 1904.

It has only been possible to identify Herbert Stables, his wife Annie Kerrigan and their son, George Stables, in this photograph. They are on the right: Herbert at the back, Annie seated in front of him with large white flowers on her dress and baby George on her lap.

Herbert Stables (b. 1872) is standing in the foreground (left). The date on the photograph is 1938.

Herbert was a Churchwarden of Worsborough Church, which is now a Catholic Church, dedicated to St. James. The other churchwarden, shown rear-right in the photograph, is John Simpson, the father of Annie Simpson, who married Herbert's son, George Stables.

There is a stained glass window to commemorate Herbert in this church.

Herbert's son, George Stables (b.1903 Worsbro Dale)

Cherry Howard has in her possession two books that belonged to George Stables, her uncle, and which were important to him. George is the infant shown in the photograph at the top of the page.

George Stables was born in 1903 at Worsbrough Dale, the son of Herbert Stables and Annie Kerrigan. He married Annie Simpson at Barnsley in 1933.
