A memorial of certain indentures lease and release bearing date respectively the thirtieth and thirty-first days of January in the seventh year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the third by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland king defender of the faith and so forth in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and sixty-seven the lease made or mentioned to be made between William Ingham the Elder of Ossett in the parish of Dewsbury and the county of York Maltster and Benjamin Earnshaw of Pontefract in the said county Callow Chandler the signees of the estate and effects of Joseph Capes late of Knottingley in the said county Corn Factor Dealer and Chapman (against whom a commission of bankruptcy lately issued) and the said Joseph Capes late of Knottingley aforesaid but now of Snaith in the said county on the one part and Henry Stables the younger of Knottingley aforesaid gentleman on the other part and the release in three parts made or mentioned to be made between the said William Ingham and Benjamin Earnshaw of the first part the said Joseph Capes and Anne Capes his wife of the second part and the said Henry Stables the younger of the third part of and concerning all that close or inclosure of land called the Stoney Land Close lying and being in Knottingley aforesaid the land in the possession of John Stagg of the west and south of Mr. Pools land on the east and the high road on the north and also all that half rood of field land lying and being in the low field belonging to Knottingley aforesaid in a certain place there called the Short Harray the land in the possession of Mr Joseph Atkinson on the north Mr Richard Andrews land lying on the south the land of the said Henry Stables on the east and the high road on the west together with all and singular appurtenances whatsoever to the said close or inclosure and half rood of land belonging or manywise appurtaining on which to and with the same now are or at any times theretofore have been held used occupied accepted reputed taken or known as part parcel or member thereof or of any part thereof which said indentures of lease and release are witnessed by Edward Sykes of Dewsbury aforesaid Gentleman Richard John Tetlow of Knottingley aforesaid Gentleman | |

Indentures of lease and release bearing date respectively the tenth and eleventh days of September in the seventeenth year of the reign of our sovereign Lord George the third by the grace of God of Great Britain France and Ireland King Defender of the Faith and so forth and in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and seventy seven the lease being made or mentioned to be made between Henry Stables of Knottingley in the county of York Gentleman and Mary his wife and Thomas Golton of Cowick in the parish of Snaith in the said county Farmer of the one part and Jane Sugden of Rawcasse in the said county of York widow of the other part and the release being of three parts and made or mentioned to be made between the said Henry Stables and Mary his wife of the first part the said Thomas Golton of the second part and the said Jane Sugden of the third part of and concerning all that allotment of land lately inclosed containing by estimation five acres be the same more or less situate lying and being in Snaith and Cowick and Ings adjoining upon an allotment of land belonging Mr Whitheson south and east the highway lane west and upon an allotment of land belonging John Meggitt north which said allotment of land was set out and allotted to the said Thomas Galton his heirs executors administrators and assigns for and in lieu of all those two acres of meadow ground as the same were then lying and being in Snaith and Cowick Ings aforesaid in a place there called the Long Dales the lands then or were late of Lord Downe east and then or late of John Saville Esquire west also for and in lieu of one other half acre of meadow as the same were then lying and being in the south field of Cowick and Snaith aforesaid over a place called the Holme otherwise Bughill also for and in lieu of all that half acre of land as the same were then lying and being in Snaith Ing aforesaid in a place called the half acres between the lands then or late of Lord Downe east and Mrs Yarborough west and also for and in lieu of divers copyhold lands and premises within the augmentation Manor of Snaith and also all other the lands tenements hereditaments and premises of him the said Thomas Golton or whereof or wherein he have any estate right title or interest whatsoever and in whose possession soever the same now are with which said allotment of land and premises abovementioned now are in the occupation of the said Thomas Golton or his assigns together with all and singular ways waters watercourses paths passages commons common or pasture land and allotment of land herediments and premises belonging or in anywise appurtaining or otherwise then or at any time thereto commonly used occupied or enjoyed which said indenture of lease and release as to the execution thereof by the said Henry Stables and Mary his wife and tested by John Carr of Thorne in the county of York Gent and Thomas Whitheson of Knottingley aforesaid Wheelwright and as to the execution thereof by the said Thomas Golton and attested by Thomas Berriman of Thorne aforesaid Gent and the said John Carr signed and sealed by the said Thomas Golton | |

This is the last will and Testament of me Henry Stables of Knottingley in the County of york Gentleman First I order and direct that all my just debts funeral expenses and Legacies be paid by my Executor hereinafter mentioned out of my personal estate if the same is sufficient for that purpose but if not, then I hereby order and direct my said Executor shall sell and dispose of such part or parts of my said real Estate for the best price that can be had or gotten for the same and shall be sufficient for that purpose, and I do hereby declare and it is my will and pleasure that the receipts of my said executor shall be a sufficient discharge for the respective purchase monies for the same And that after such receipt or receipts given the purchaser or purchasers shall not be answerable or accountable for such purchase money nor be obliged to see to the application or be answerable for the misapplication or nonapplication of such purchase money but that after such receipts given of such purchase money by my said executor a good effectual and sufficient title be vested in such purchaser or purchasers his or theirs heirs or assigns for ever Also subject to such Sales for the payment of Debts as before mentioned, I give and bequeath to my Nephew Henry Stables of Huddersfield in the said County Gentleman The and every my real Estate and Effects whatsoever (except the messuage and premises hereinafter bequeathed to my servant Mary Butler for and during the Term of her Natural Life) and from and after his [sic] decease then I give devise and bequeath the same to Henry Stables eldest son of my said Nephew Henry Stables his Heirs and assigns for ever but in case the said Henry Stables, son of my said nephew Henry Stables, shall die before he arrives at the age of twenty one years the I give devise and bequeath th same to my said Nephew Henry Stables his Heirs and assigns for ever but I hereby further order and direct and it is my like and pleasure that my said Nephew Henry Stables may sell and dispose of all or any part of my said real estates and property for the most money and best price that can or may be had or gotten for the same and in case of such sale I hereby order and direct that the money arising from such Sale be placed and put out upon the best Security or Securities that can or may be had or gotten for the same and the Interest and produce arising thereupon it is my will and pleasure and I hereby order and direct that my said nephew Henry Stables shall receive for his own proper use and benefit for and during the term of his Natural Life and from and after his decease then I give and bequeath all and every such Principal Money to Henry Stables son of my said Nephew Henry Stables his executors administrators and assigns but in the case he shall die before he arrives at the age of twenty one years then I give and bequeath the same to my said Nephew Henry Stables his executors administrators and assigns and to and for his own sole use and benefit I give and bequeath to my Servant Mary Butler All that my Messuage Cottage or Dwelling House situate in Knottingley aforesaid and now in the possession of John Winterburn for and during the Term of her natural Life and from and after her decease then I give and bequeath the same to my Nephew Henry Stables for and during the term of his Natural Life and from and after his decease then I give and bequeath the same to his eldest son Henry his Heirs and assigns for ever and subject to the same orders and directions as hereinbefore mentioned respecting the rest of my real estates and property I give and bequeath to my Nephew Walter Stables the sum of one hundred pounds and also a mourning ring I give and bequeath to my nephew William Stables and also to his wife each of them One Mourning Ring I also give and bequeath to my Nephew Shepley Watson and also to his Wife Each of them One Mourning Ring. I give and bequeath to Henry Stables Son of my said Nephew Henry Stables my Silver Watch and all my Silver Plate except One Silver Creem Jug One dozen Silver Tea Spoons and one pair of Silver Tea Tongs which I hereby give and bequeath to Mary Stables Daughter of my said Nephew Henry Stables I give and bequeath to the said Mary Butler the sum of ten pounds I also give and bequeath to the said Mary Butler my Bedstead in the best Garret with red and white colord Hangings together with the Bed Bolster and Pillows thereunto belonging as also two pair of Blanketts two pair of Sheets, two pair of Bolster Cases two pair of Pillow Cases and one [Laitl?] I also give and bequeath to the said Mary Butler All the Chairs with Cain Backs standing in the best Garret, as also all my Tea China, half a dozen Wine Glasses One Dressing Table standing in the sitting Room and also my green hafted Knives and Forks also an arm Chair with bass bottom and my Family Bible and also a Suit of Mourning to be found her by my Executor hereinafter mentioned, I give and bequeath to Mary Tasker of Knottingley aforesaid widow, the sum of one pound one shilling also one black gown one black handcurchief and one black Petticoat to be found her by my Executor hereinafter mentioned and as to all the rest residue and remainder of my personal Estate and Effects money securities for money of whatever nature or description soever I give and bequeath the same to my said Nephew Henry Stables his executors and administrators and I hereby nominate and appoint the said Henry Stables Sole Executor of this my last will and Testament hereby revoking and making void all other wills by me at any time herebefore made In Witness whereof I have to this my last will and Testament contained in two sheets of Paper set my hand and seal the Sixth day of August in the year of our Lord One thousand Eight hundred and Four:
